During the American War of Independence JPJ used the hidden bay on Caldey Island to land his vessel while conducting raids around the Coast.
Jones was guided to this discreet spot by one of his officers, a Tenby native with the unique name of ‘Leekie Porridge’
Local folklore states that when Jones died, his body was pushed into a crevice near Old Point on Caldey, and that the sound of digging can still be heard echoing across the beach, as if his ghost is searching for treasure…
